How ironic that one of the poorest large cities in the country is being sponsored by a German luxury automobile manufacturer?

It is tough to get naming rights for a big stadium and the exposure that particular one gets thanks to Katrina and the Saints (not to mention hosting 2013 super bowl) makes it a GREAT move. They aren't doing it to cater to people in New Orleans as much as for every time someone sees the saints on the TV now they will say they are playing in the Mercedes Benz Superdome.

Louisiana Superdome now the Mecedes-Benz Supedome for the next 10 years

Mercedes has acquired the naming rights to the Louisiana Superdome and for the next 10 years it will be referred to as the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. In addition, Mercedes is now the exclusive vehicle of the New Orleans Saints. Some might question the deal but the 2012 Men's Final Four, 2012 BCS Championship, and 2013 Super Bowl will be hosted in the Superdome. That makes for some very nice exposure on a very, very large stage so job well done for the first naming rights deal in the USA by Mercedes.
