The Mercedes-Benz SLC is not a big seller and BenzBoost can tell you why. It has no balls. It is a chick car. That is fine and dandy but if you want to garner sales from men the car has to perform and not look like a toy for a hairdresser.

Past Mercedes SLK models had real AMG versions and not this lame SLC43 faux AMG nonsense which dilutes the AMG brand.

Imagine if AMG actually gave the SLC an AMG engine in the form of a M177 4.0 liter twin turbo V8. Its entire image suddenly changes. Look at how the Audi TT is received now after the TT-RS editions showed the performance they are capable of.

Regardless, the SLC is not a big seller and it is easy to see why. Mercedes wants to dump it and produce a mid-engine sports car to rival the Porsche 718. This car would slow in below the AMG GT in the lineup.

Head of AMG Tobias Moers describes it as such:

A lot of thought has gone into how Mercedes-AMG can better leverage its success in motorsport, particularly Formula 1 and endurance racing. One idea is a sports car that is relatively attainable financially and ideally suited to track day running. But it is just an idea and not a committed project right now.
