Why is this able to last longer than other tire shines? How is it semi-permanent?

This and if it were to get on your rims, would it damage it any way? What if I want to remove the shine?

I'm quite happy spraying on some regular tire shine each time I wash the car .. one bottle lasts me quite a few washes for the tires and front wheel arches.. I also prefer the matte look; I spray it on, then buff it off.

Why is this able to last longer than other tire shines? How is it semi-permanent?

The mfg doesn't disclose the exact science but it's essentially a clear coat with a tiny bit of black dye in it. Other dressings that get absorbed by the rubber evaporate over time. This doesn't get absorbed in it's a coating meant for the exterior.

This and if it were to get on your rims, would it damage it any way? What if I want to remove the shine?

I believe if you wipe it up right away there should be no issue. If you let it sit for long periods of time or in direct sun it could be an issue. However you are applying it with a foam applicator so it shouldn't be an issue with some basic common sense. It is not sprayed on, just spread by hand with the applicator.

To each their own, if you are happy with your products and process you certainly don't need to change anything. You can get a relatively matte finish with just one thin coating. If you want the overly glossy look you'll need at least 2 - 3 coats.
