Flying Lizard Motorsports reveals their new livery (design) for their 2011 LeMans racing cars

This is a commemorative livery for the number 80 and 81 Flying Lizard Porsches which will be racing at the 24 hours of LeMans June 11-12. A California artist named Troy Lee created the design which celebrated the 28 drivers who have won the race overall for Porsche. The design looks awesome and these will gorgeous cutting through the tough field at LeMans.

    Troy Lee:

I started with the vibrant colors of the drivers' country flags: imagining how they could be put to life on a racecar, as if they were blowing by on the front straight. Once we had the theme, we focused on making it come to life in 3D. The challenge was to really show off the depth and movement of these amazing cars, while maintaining the integrity of the Porsche design.

The flying lizards are awesome. I had the chance to crew for them a few years ago down at Sebring, but my boss picked the other guy at the shop to go down...he bitched and whined that 'they didnt like him' and he went home 2 days early. I woulda loved to go with them.

Thats cool to see Troy Lee Designs doing race car liveries now. From doing helmets to race cars. Anyone familiar with motocross, knows Troy Lee.

Troy Lee has done some amazing helmet themes through the years. Seems like they've been around forever... glad to see they're not only still at it, but upping the ante. Also hope these Lizards fare well at Circuit de la Sarthe... they've been a great team for awhile now. The ALMS race footage at Laguna vs. the Vette was absolutely and unequivocally epic.
