There is definitely room for timing advance on 91 octane and/or in hot weather with meth injection. Agree with Bren - I would go in the charge pipe. The Vishnu setup looked pretty good to me from what I saw of it.

Well, 93 for me, but I've logged my car a few times using brens csv file. I think shivs only advantage is the meth control itself, but a vacuum switch is 15 compared to his setup. Only a theory right now though. Afr is something to keep an eye on though

Question still remains, what happened to Shiv's meth setup for the M3?

2-3 of his former 335 hardcore fans tried it, always bringing it up in random threads, but nothing significant considering the source

Doesn't surprise me really with the M3 crowd. I mean it requires lots of wires to the ECU plus some custom work on the intake side. Then there is the need to refill the reservoir. Most probably don't want to deal with it I would guess.

Even with 93, it will still be able to advance timing with meth. Agreed though - you want to make sure the power is from timing due to cooling of the intake charge and not from screwing with the AFR because it has not atomized properly.

His setup was pretty cool IMO because it had the auto switching of maps, etc. Can overlay it on top of a tune if desired, leave the stock programing alone, or run one of his modified maps - little leaner AFR and/or timing target changes. So pretty flexible, but also a lot of variables there should something go wrong.

In theory, if taken at face value, yes, pretty cool.

But I don't recall seeing any logs from his meth/tuned cars.
This is why I think he is holding back on them purposefully.

Even on 93 I don't always reach stock targets, so meth alone I think would allow that. I don't see how much more advance one is willing to run. Being able to consistently reach those max stock targets should offer a gain. My only concern is the afr. We would have to assume, given the n54 ecu, that it would be equally, if not more capable to adapt.

If afr is in check, timing consistent, then there would be no need for the procede/m3 version.
If one wanted more advanced control, CM, as well as others offer much cheaper solutions.

I'm ok with the $15 vacuum switch given all else being ok, as there's nothin "aftermarket" tuning-wise being done

I would start with an M1 nozzle and see what it does to your AFR.

I recall seeing some logs on the board-that-everyone-hates-here : ) Too lazy to go search though to be quite honest. IIRC he also stated that the car can safely run (eg. not detonate) above the max target timing values in the midrange, if the targets are changed and IAT kept low with meth.

$15 vacuum switch will definitely get-er-done. Stock knock correction will kick in when you run out. I guess that is the only issue I see...you advance to the max stock values, then run out of meth; it will det and retard timing. Not the end of the world really - I mean it is the same thing as going from 40F weather to 80F weather I suppose.

Personally, it just gives me a reason to look forward to the $#@!ty winters here - car becomes a rocket ship. : )

Good thing about NA cars is they are more tolerant with tune related faults whereas a boosted car doesnt like meth cutoff at 19 psi from turbos pumping out 190 degree air. Give it a shot LM, inject the meth far upstream and use tiny nozzles first with a vacuum switch and log it if you can.

As per our dinner conversation you know where it is now. But perhaps until other work is done we should wait on this?
