Fast, faster, and fastest - An FVD tuned Porsche 997.1 Turbo vs a tuned E60 M5 and stock McLaren MP4-12C on the highway
The highway is really the E60 M5's game. The S85 V10 breathes very well up top and revs past 8k making for a natural autobahn stormer. The E60 M5 in the videos you will see is ECU tuned along with scoops, an underdrive pulley, and a cat delete. The 911 Turbo it races is the 997.1 generation car with a manual transmission. It is tuned as well but its only modification is to the ECU courtesy of a tune from FVD.
The result of the 997.1 Turbo and the E60 M5 is surprisingly one sided. The 911 Turbo just flat out runs away from it up top. There are multiple runs and the result is the same each time, bus lengths for the Turbo.
So how about some more stout competition for the Posche? A McLaren MP4-12C certainly qualifies as stout. The McLaren features the latest 616 horsepower ECU map from McLaren along with a sport exhaust system. The result? The MP4-12C puts bus lengths on the Porsche 911.
All three of these cars are quick on the highway. It is amazing to see such a large spread between them. There is always somebody faster.

Holy crap, that E60 got walked bad (and so did that SRT-6 crossfire) that was in the far lane. And then that last video, that 911 got walked by the MC as hard as the E60 did by the 911. Insane video!

i knew i couldn't win! i know that 12C very well as it's my dad's car.
since this race i installed a catless exhaust and the 82mm plenum incl. TB on the 997.
i still don't have any chance but i can hold up a bit better now.
next time i'll take me gopro with me so i can show you the difference.
cheers,
Luke

Gopro would be a very good idea!
For you to run with your dads car you are going to have to mod those turbos. The 6MT is holding you back a bit against him as well.
Still, good stuff.
Do a rematch with the Go Pro! Make sure your dad doesn't get a more aggressive tuneBRAND NEW IN BOX 991.2 standard/non-pse SPW cat bypass pipe for sale - $899 shipped

MP4-12C is scary fast. It's amazing how it accelerates - hit 145 I think on the straight at Exotics Racing in Vegas and it felt like it was just going to keep on accelerating. Eerily quiet and linear too.

Hey this looks a like street racing..... On a forum where the administrator doesn't believe in street racing

I don't believe in personally going across the country to street race when I can rent a track to run multiple cars multiple times and provide far more useful data, videos, etc.
I'm not sitting here telling others what to do with their lives or cars. The owners are big boys and can make their own decisions. You must have missed the countless threads showing all kinds of videos here in all kinds of settings from the track, to the runway, to the street, etc.
I guess you are struggling with basic reasoning as it pertains to differentiating these ideas as they are not black or white. That's ok. We all learn at a different pace.BRAND NEW IN BOX 991.2 standard/non-pse SPW cat bypass pipe for sale - $899 shipped

12C GT sounds awesome. I like the looks better also. 12C is a little too soft looking for me. Solid design for sure, but nothing blows me away about it. I like the extra details on the GT.
First thing I would want to do personally to the McLaren is make it LOUD - more for feedback than for hey-look-at-me.

Good videos! I wonder how p-car would do with exhaust/e85 & a little weight reduction with him taking the hit? It should be close! I've ran with a 690whp 997 (m6) turbo at tx2k, but he got me. It was a pretty good race tho (will upload the vid).
We ran 10.6@135 with ton of wheel spin & DA sucked! I think its possible to go 10.3 with good conditions and no tire spin.
PS. I have some plans for the mc, hopefully it will be the first 9sec MP4-12c after this summer
