Cadillac tells German car fanboys that their worst nightmare is here - Cadillac-V is the new sheriff in town
Some awesome smack talk here from Cadillac. Specifically from Cadillac president (and GM Executive Vice President) Johan de Nysschen formerly of Audi. You may remember that Cadillac tried to troll the Germans last month but it came off somewhat forced.
This is much better. Much, much better:
Strong words from the Cadillac president but it is the type of thing as an enthusiast you like to see. He pulls no punches informing the Germans this is not about horsepower, torque, or acceleration as they are already beaten there. He is right, the LT4 supercharged V8 going in the CTS-V is no joke.
He does not just point to the CTS-V but also the new ATS-V models. Cadillac is attacking across the spectrum but it is important to note the cars are being built to be well rounded. That is why de Nysschen brings up handling, braking, steering, and cornering performance.
Is Cadillac-V the new Sheriff in town? Let's get the cars on the road first but one has to love the confidence here. This is much better than photoshopping pictures of an ATS-V next to an AMG or M car.
The Germans needs a wake up call and if anyone is going to give them one it is going to be the Americans and in the luxury segment specifically Cadillac. Go get 'em boys, show them how overrated the Germans truly are (and have been for some time).BRAND NEW IN BOX 991.2 standard/non-pse SPW cat bypass pipe for sale - $899 shipped

All that smack talk falls down when you get in to the ATS and are greeted by this glorious gauge cluster...

When I saw the ATS-V in person I did feel it looked cheap. I don't know why there is such a big spread between the ATS and the other Cadillac models.
That said, Cadillac clearly still has a ways to go. But, performance wise, I look forward to seeing what the ATS-V can do.BRAND NEW IN BOX 991.2 standard/non-pse SPW cat bypass pipe for sale - $899 shipped

That's unfortunate, I've only seen regular ATS' in person and thought looked alright, but certainly it doesn't have the same style as a German coupe. I think it's the proportions of the car are just off by a bit, hopefully the next generation fixes it.
Yes, for performance I think this is going to be monstrous.

OMG, that is ridiculous. I cannot even believe they would put something like that in a car, much less a +$60kish new car - you know, one from the year 2015. How did this get approval/past QA/etc.? LOL - wow, that's bad.
EDIT - just read / saw the other posts... Still, it's not something I would be proud of.

The gauges of the CTS are optional ones...
The non-TFT ones are terrible and resemble the ATS ones...

This is why I still laugh when people say "Cadillac is back" - you mean with the crappy switchgear, the non-premium materials still being used immediately outside of the sight-lines, and the glossy plastic everywhere that looks like it came out of a cheaper car? No thanks.
The M3/4 and M5/6 have some of the best interiors you could imagine for the price point, and so does the C63. The ATS is a joke next to that. Even the CTS looks a bit over-styled and cheap. Also...the ATS is the same price as an M3, and comes with less standard equipment. The CTS might be a deal, but you get what you pay for.
Finally, we all know that GM willingly submits to SAE cert of their engine output. BMW does not. You can bet that the Cadillac power figures are very accurate. We all know that the BMW engines are not. So I don't know why they still seem to think they have some sort of massive advantage in that regard.
Finally, by the time the CTS gets here...it will almost be time for a new M5. Hope they took that into account. And there's likely a facelift and comp package for the M3/4 coming next year.
Not a fanboy, just a realist. Cadillac always likes to talk a big game...but whether they can back it up is another matter. Should be interesting to see how this goes.
Hey...
