I keep saying M stands for money. BMW has stopped catering to car enthusiasts, and now courts fat moneyed (unless leased) wannabees.

It does, yes. Weight is not the biggest factor here but if the BMW was 3300 pounds as it's supposed to be this might be quite different. Especially if they removed the weight in the right spots.

80% of the cars they move are leases. They produce disposable cars for people who want to look like they have money.

    A 320i lease isn't impressing anyone anyway.

Oh I absolutely agree with you that weight saved would have a major impact on performance. It's just crazy, the GT350r is heavier, yet gaps the $#@! out of the GTS on a track.
Now, the GTS should absolutely be lighter. No reason for it to be as heavy as it is. It pisses me off that BMW, a company that used to produce some of the finest products, can't save weight if their lives were at stake.
They don't even offer a single vehicle I currently care about. And I've been a devout BMW enthusiast for an extremely long time. The E9X M was wonderful, after that, they started shooting blanks.
    Because racecar.

Depends if you actually believe BMW's claimed curb weight (usually 100-200 lbs less than actual weight)

Pretty sure I saw a thread where it weighed more than advertised

I meant BMW's claims weight claims were lower than the real tested weight of the car, poor phrasing on my part.

I think the M4 gts is more built for the Nordschleife (Green Hell)

The GPS wouldn't look so bad if it didn't have that huge homosexualized wing on the back. When it was first released, I thought some $#@! out in on there from the aftermarket. The wheels and carbon fiber stuff looks amazing. I met a guy Alston night with a regular M4 but with the GTS wheels and carbon fiber stuff and it looked awesome.

Edit: I don't know why that picture is sideways...

Earlier in this thread we discussed how manipulated 'Ring times usually are, ie: look at the GT-R time on that list, only months after it came out it was found out that the car was run on with aero, tires and tuning not on customer cars. For the GTS to be failing this badly in every other independent test it's pretty obvious that the 'Ring lap was not set with a production spec vehicle.

Yeah the competition pack looks awesome. But it's pretty damn expensive.

    "M" for Money! I'm 45 & I remember buying my e36 M3 for $41K. I think the sticker base was like $37...pricing is ridiculous!

Not sure why this isn't sinking in.

I LOVE that the majority of people here will freely accept that BMW has turned to $#@!. The one or 2 fanbois that keep making excuses is great entertainment though.

It's best to just accept it, making excuses isn't covering up for the fact that these vehicles aren't what they used to be

That's why I keep modding my '95 540i. But it feels like a wife who has had many, many plastic surgery's and if you divorce her, you lose all your estate.
