Porsche 991.2 GTS vs. C7 Corvette Grand Sport on the track (Hockenheim)

This is a comparison from Sport Auto which is a German publication so expect a German bias. That being said, the 991.2 GTS is an awesome performance car. Porsche took the already stout 3.0 turbo flat-6 mill and gave it larger turbochargers and new tuning for 450 horsepower.

The Corvette Grand Sport is well known and overachieves for its power. Think of it is a Z06 without the blower torque and without the added weight on the nose. It's a tremendous car.

So which of these two is quicker around the track? Well, they are so close it will come down to the conditions, transmission, and ultimately the driver.

The dual clutch 991.2 GTS edges the manual C7 Grand Sport by just over 3/10's:

sport auto-Testredakteur Christian Gebhardt im Porsche 911 Carrera GTS (Rundenzeit: 1.08,0 min) und Corvette Grand Sport (1.08,3 min) auf dem Kleinen Kurs Hockenheim. Reifen Porsche: Pirelli P Zero Corsa N0, Corvette: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP.

$50k cheaper, N/A and manual vs. PDK? Corvette sort of wins this one from a performance perspective. Why wouldn't they run against the still cheaper than the GTS Z06?

The Corvette is a better value for sure we all know that but that is not how you compare them from a performance perspective.

The Carrera/S match up against the C7, the Grand Sport against the GTS, and the Z06 against the Turbo.

Same here. Really looking forward to that car.

Plus if they move it upscale... that's awesome.

Grand Sport is such a bargain and it looks amazing. Along the with the Camaro 1LE, GM has two of the best performance bargains on the market.
