Here is every upcoming BMW M car including the next gen AWD M3, F92 M8, M1 supercar, 2018 F87 M2 CS, etc.
Here is a nice article from Car Magazine (something we rarely get to say) that covers the models the M division is planning to bring to market in the next few years. Take it with a grain of salt as Car Magazine enjoys speculating wildly and seeing what, if anything, sticks.
A few points to touch on are that they say the next generation BMW M3 will have 500 horsepower and all wheel drive. A pretty safe bet considering the M5 gets all wheel drive and a power bump. The M3 S55 motor is already at 500 horsepower anyway so they just are taking an educated guess.
They also state a hybrid powertrain is likely which is another guess. Maybe, maybe not. A lot can change by 2020 but the new M5 is not a hybrid.
Regarding the G14/F92 M8, they say it will have between 600-650 horsepower which is a nice guess considering it will just likely use a derivative of the M5 drivetrain. Think of it as you do the F13 M6 to the F10 M5 now.
Regarding a true M1, it's just a fluff piece. BimmerBoost believes BMW owes us an M1. What the article talks about is a new M1 based on a new i8 which means essentially nothing and neither is confirmed. Maybe it is on the way but BMW themselves likely doesn't even have the specifications or details sorted and this is years away if it even happens.
THe F87 M2 article is the one with the most meat in it as they say it will get a stronger I6 motor. That likely means the expected S55 derivative. With over 400 horsepower and a proper M motor, the M2 will finally be what it should have been to begin with.
Enjoy.
