Tesla S couldn’t finish a single lap of VIR or Laguna Seca without entering reduced power mode, during Lightning Lap and BDC.

No matter what you do to your street based BMW, there will always be someone (or quite a few people) faster. So you might say you just do it for fun? Well then who are you to judge that Tesla or EV drivers aren't having just as much fun driving their cars to the particular strengths of their cars also. Chances are a Tesla driver will beat more cars in daily encounters in a row than you will win races in a row at the track. So if the Tesla driver wins in more situations that the car was designed for, than you will at the track, I guess we really shouldn't be so quick to call the Tesla "incapable" when it comes to performance.

Keep in mind the Tesla Model S went from the (P85D-100D) from just the 2015 model to the 2017 and in the process dropped from a 12 second car to one that does the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds. Meanwhile the other world super sedans, coming from companies more than half century old can't make a sedan that even cracks into the 10 second barrier yet.

The 350kWh chargers are already being installed in some locations here in California. This is 7 times faster than the current 50kW chargers. The new Porsche Mission E, and other planned EVs will be able to pick up 100 miles of charge in 5 minutes. In the future, they will have chargers at tracks, just like they have racing fuel. And assuming you have 5 minutes to spare, with 100 miles of charge, I'm sure you can finish your 15 minute session, without any problems. I am also quite certain if you drove the Nio as slowly as your drive your current car at the track, it would have no problem completing 2 of your sessions. And even more refreshing is the fact that you won't ever need to smog an electric car. There are no tailpipe emissions. You could run one all day in a closed high school gym without killing everyone off with carbon monoxide. So many of the modified cars on the road today are not smog/street legal, and getting to be a PIA to register in California. So definitely a big plus there. Formula E was debating whether to make the batteries bigger and have single car races, but decided to keep it in the 2 car format at the moment. Remember, this racing series is very new and still developing its basic format.

The new gen 2 Tesla Roadster will undoubtedly be more performance oriented than the Model S 4 door luxury sedan. Like I said, the current crop of EVs are relatively new. In just a few years, the performance achievements will be spectacular. True unparalleled torque vectoring is possible when you have 4 wheel motors in a car. Credit the spectacular performance of the Tesla to making the major manufacturers open their eyes to what is possible. And now with Mercedes, VAG, Etc, investing billions in EVs, you will see some impressive vehicles coming out in the near future.
LOLOLOL this guy. Chortle my balls.

There is no perfect all around car. The Tesla was never made to be a track car, why would you even want to track a 7 passenger luxury sedan?
I would say most Tesla owners that are interested in tracking, have or could easily have a dedicated track car. Instead of some daily car that's tracked "sometimes"....
99% of a driving occurs on public roadways not at tracks, therefore why criticize it over 1% of its potential use? Doesn't make much sense....
99% of legal speeds in the USA are below 65mph, therefore the Tesla makes sense to have LEGAL fun on public roadways since its quicker than 99% of cars 99% of people would encounter 99% of the time.

    I will take 99% over 1% thanks.

Its real hard to gain a perspective in Motor Trend drag races as they quickly keep switching between cars so you never really see who is gaining on who.

Teslas are getting too quick, thats the the first time a 4door has won the yearly MT drag race
Rigged as the Russian elections. They probably put the $#@!tiest gas they found at the closest shadiest spot in town and then proceeded to water it down. The thing was that they had a drone to film it without any editing but they decided it only wanted a overhead view of the start? just too fishy on all accounts

Maybe we should investigate this? Get a 570S and a 488 to show it's bogus and call them out?

how did i miss this beauty of a thread?

Just love how Tesla owners are always guzzling the koolaid fed to them by elon.

I dont think there is any other car owner out there that tries to justify themselves more than tesla owners.

Funny thing its not even just the owners. I see random people always quote the 2.4s 0-60 record time and stuff like that on internet arguments even when it doesn't apply to the discussion.
