BMW F90 M5 vs. Ferrari 458 Speciale highway pulls

The Ferrari 458 Speciale is a track car that also happens to be fast in a straight line. Yes, we all dream of dusting a Ferrari but the Speciale is indeed a bit more special than to be reduced to acceleration tests. It is a fun benchmark for the BMW F90 M5 though.

As a reminder, these are the Speciale 4.5 liter naturally aspirated V8 specs as it gets tweaked a bit compared to the standard 458:

It still is no match for the F90 M5. The much lighter 458 is driven well and is able to open a lead but the F90 M5 runs it down and passes easily.

Brute force goes to the twin turbo BMW.

EDIT: The M5 is modified with a piggyback

I had a feeling 991.2 GT3 or RS can keep up with F90.

The 458 seems to be more sensitive to octane than a turbo car. They trap from 124-132mph, a wide range. This must have been a slow example as C&D has it trapping 131mph with 0-150mph in 15s, both stats quicker than an f90 m5.... the race was a blowout though in favour of the M5 .....

In my country, 458 Speciale is the 200kph/125mph car on 100RON. We've seen slips many times. The base model is 2~3 miles slower and goes neck to neck with 997.2 Turbo (none S).

Throw magazine times for Ferraris out the window. It's pretty widely accepted (by everyone that doesn't wear Ferrari tennis shoes to match their Ferrari man purse, at least) that they send magazines ringers.

Car and Driver always has Ferrari's trapping higher than they do in the real world.

The 458 is roughly a 124 mph car. That is in good conditions.

I saw the races vs McLaren and I was like ‘poor showing Ferrari’. But then again the huracan can’t achieve c&d times either in the real world lol

    What a pointless race.

Are there any E63S vs M5 videos from customers? Properly filmed, multiple runs from dig and roll? Not some instagram videos filmed with a potato camera in portrait mode.

I enjoyed it. It's not every day you see a 458 Speciale racing.

I was skeptical about this race from the beginning, no way a stock M5 pulls a Speciale like that. The F90 was tuned....
