AMG Boss Ola Kallenius stated in an interview he plans to expand the AMG model lineup. With added pressure from BMW with the 1M Coupe and with the Audi RS3 he stated that AMG models of the A and B class will not be ruled out. Additionally, the success of the SLS AMG means that Mercedes does not necessarily need to focus the larger production volume models to create AMG variants. There have been some rumors of a baby SLS to compete with the 911. Either way, we can expect AMG to roll out more models and turn up the heat which is exactly what we like to hear.

How so? AMG is not like M, not to mention that the brand is much newer in comparison they have always stuck AMG motors in just about everything.

At least they aren't just putting the badge on base models, changing the styling, and then saying job complete.

not really because they dont have the history and pedigree that the ///M division has, they have always had a AMG of just about every car they sell(if not every) so for them its not really selling out. The ///M division was known for na high revving engines in a driver oriented package,

The AMG brand does not have the same storied history or precedent for certain decisions. From the beginning they have done far more models with shared motors than M ever dreamed of.

In a way, AMG pushed BMW M toward dilution with the ML55 AMG forcing BMW to start thinking about M suv's and skirting the issue with the X5 4.6is.
