ZONDA is in a league of their own. I used to doubt them and didnt like that they didnt make their own engine but after visiting italy and the car manufacturers, I have no doubt in my mind they are unique, a niche car. Their separate themselves from the other supercar makers.

great power figure for such a light car. and n/a i assume? the 65's engine is twin turbo, so no wonder they say vastly different. imagine this thing with boost

it's RWD for sure , but i still they don't think they can make 700Hp from 6.0 litre
when was the last time AMG made an engine with that much Hp/litre (except Zonda R which is race car)? i don't remeber

The Zonda uses, and has used, derivatives of MB's M120 engine... reworked and further refined by AMG to meet the specifications and performance characteristics desired by Pagani.
The quote from Pagani in the first post is somewhat confusing - it sounds like they're saying "this engine is completely different than the SL65BS engine, neither is derived from the other." However, it's been reported that the C9 will use a variant of the M275 AMG engine - which is the same engine that the SL65BS uses. IMHO, a more specific question could be asked - "is the C9's engine based on the M275 AMG engine architecture, or is it a fresh, totally new clean-sheet build from AMG for the C9?" My guess is the former...

Yeah - the earliest production MB's to use the M120 engine were early 1990's model years. With the evolutionary changes in engine tech and design in the last two decades, it's amazing it's still being used by anyone. It would be like Pagani spec'ing the S70 from BMW originally, and still using a modified version of it in 2010.
If the C9 uses the M275 AMG (which is what every biturbo 65 AMG uses at present), albeit a Pagani-customized version, it would make sense given the reported specs (6.0L, 700+ HP), but not the "NA" one. Did they claim anywhere that it would be a naturally aspirated powerplant, or was that someone's speculation along the way?

It was just speculation regarding NA based on Pagani's own statements stating their motor is not derived from the SL65 Black Series TT V12. Since all the V12's with TT's as you stated are basically the same thing, their statements are kind of odd then if it is going to be TT.

I for one hope it stay N/A. A 700hp V12 N/A would be perfection and that car is very very light. Would smash!
