The BMW M8 that never was

Thanks to our friends over at BMWblog, we've discovered an that was thought only to be a mere prototype!

Hit up the link after the read for more!

The M8-Prototype is perhaps the best-kept secret of BMW and for the first time, BMW has unveiled the on-off car in front of journalists at the BMW Museum in Munich. Despite several false reports in the past, the M8 prototype has not been destroyed by BMW and it still exists in a special facility in Munich.
While our complete and highly detailed story is in works, here are some quick details. The M8 was equipped with a V12 prototype engine based on the S70 engine, producing around 550 horsepower.
Compared to the 850CSi, the M8 prototype was also missing the headlights. The car features dual side vents at the rear wheel.

The M8 prototype also sits on special wheels, but more on the nifty details in the very near future.
For now, please enjoy exclusively, the first live photos of the BMW M8 prototype, shortly followed by videos and a full photo gallery.

One of my neighbors down the street has the 850... My jaw drops everytime I see that thing.
...I'm pretty sure it was an 850...I don't see it too often, but when I do, it definitely doesn't sound like a v8...

Been a huge fan of the 8 series from the beginning, I want one so bad. I'd take any of them. Even the 830 has a V8. Saw a 850CSi for sale sometime ago, sold so quickly. One day I'll get one.

Haha, honestly I'm not really sure. I think I just might go straight for the e46 M3. The prices have been dropping and will only drop more. By the time I end up getting one it should be decently cheap. You still trying to sell your 335i?

By the way here's a compilation of 850Csi clips, really good video definitely worth watching.

Tell me about it, it never gets old no matter how many times I watch it haha.

Although what I don't get is since the 850Csi was made by the M Division, why they didn't go ahead and put the M badges on them?

    That car is $#@!ing sick.

I'll have an original 8 in the stables someday....it's on my dream car list (even with all the maintenance that you have to deal with).
