Honestly, There is nothing more I love about my M5! S6 gear changes and bangs are one of the best, most raw/connected feeling, I have ever felt in a car. Would never trade it for a DCT!

Yup I love the mechanical feel of the MCT on my c63. It's a lot more similar to the SMG than a DCT. No doubt the DCT is faster I've driven the Nissan gtr extensively as my bro in law owns one and the shifts have no feel to them it's almost like a CVT and feels like one crazy long gear. Heard the BMW DCT in the higher shift modes gives a sort of "bang" and Atleast it farts on the up shifts to give you some audible signal it's banging out a shift

i ran a nissan dealership for 10 years so i have driven the gtr allot as well and i also find that it shifts so fast that it feels like a cvt, people dont like the smg because they dont understand that you have to drive it like a stick. again i know that it sacrifices some performance but i love it!

I'm right here with you.. I've driven several GTR's and M5/M6 DCT's and the SMG IMO gives a much better driver experience. Don't get me wrong, I'd take and enjoy owning any of the above, but the overall feeling is diminished with the DCT.

The SMG does give a better driving experience. Criticism of it is overblown IMO I loved it.

Not surprising ! Thought it was weird that theyd use a dry clutch with the power/torque the CLA45 is making. This is a new trans right not the same as the SLS getrag unit? Does MB/Daimler also make there own transmissions? Ive never seen the MCT used on any other platform while other brands you see cars sharing transmissions like the ZF 8 speed for example (Audi/BMW)

I would doubt it being the same unit but do know the specs on it.

Nobody else I know of replaces the torque converter with clutch packs.
