Another example of C7 Z06 aerodynamic drag? Stock Huracan vs. C7 Z06 roll on race

We have seen the C7 Corvette Z06 and Lamborghini Huracan race before with the Z06 trouncing the Italian Bull. That Z06 was a modified example that traps over 140 in the 1/4 mile though so the result is not all that surprising. The Z06 in this video is much closer to stock only featuring aftermarket headers.

The Huracan is stock. The weight between the two is fairly similar but the Huracan has the smaller motor at 5.2 liters and it is naturally aspirated. It also sends power to all four wheels through a dual clutch transmission. The Vette's 6.2 liter LT4 V8 has a supercharger that provides over 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.

Power and torque are on the Z06's side. That is what makes the result interesting. The Z06 jumps the Huracan yet the Huracan up top starts to pull and ends up trapping a mile per hour higher at the marker.

Is this yet another example of the Z06's aerodynamic drag slowing it down up top?

Looks like a stg 3 Z06. Makes sense the Huracan started to catch up as the stg 3 package isn't ideal for highspeed runs. I read some thread on the vette forum of the stg 1s trapping about 4mph faster over the stg 3s.

    edit:
    found two z06's one a z07(stg3) at a 1/2 mile event

    79 F/I Kyle Lemish 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z07 Package (S/C) (575whp) 147.0588 138.8032 144.3233 144.0461 145.9144 146.7710 145.7254 147.4443 147.8318

    9 MAN Michael Bailey 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (S/C) (580whp) 148.9080 149.5017 93.8673 150.2003

The stg1 have a higher overall trap and consistently closer to 150mph were the stg3 looks to average 145 area. Same day same weather so....who knows.

They should trap higher but 4 miles per hour is huge.

I mean, do you want downforce for the track or a car for the straight line?

Well, my first thought, is how hot are intake temps getting at that point? This will drag the acceleration down a lot more than it's aero.

That is also a factor but the car definitely is experiencing tremendous drag at higher speeds.

Exactly, this is a good example of a car not being set up for high speed straight line runs... Remove the spoiler on the Stg3 and see where its at. The stg3 also has a larger front spoiler, the car is built to have as much down force as possible.
